History

In 1997, the club began its operation at the Fredericton Archery Club in Vanier Industrial Park; however the concrete floor was not appropriate for intense training. In the fall of 1998, the club moved to Wilmot United Church Hall in downtown Fredericton. Due to a lack of storage space for its growing stock of equipment and a higher rental rate, the club moved to Garden Creek School in 2001 under the auspices of the Fredericton Recreation Department. In the fall of 2007, the club added a second location at Grace Memorial Church to provide after school programs for youth. In the fall of 2008, we moved to our current location at 55 Whiting Road, which provides a dedicated fencing space for our members. We hope you will join us to enjoy fencing at the Damocles salle.

Competitive Excellence

In 1999, two Damocles fencers were members of the NB Canada Games Team. In 2003, five Damocles fencers competed on the NB Canada Games Team, three of whom placed in the top eight individual finals and one was a member of the gold medal men's epee team. In 2005, a member won bronze in under 17 women's epee at the National Championships. In 2007, eight club members were selected to the Core Team for the 2007 Canada Games team. In 2008, six club members were qualified to compete at the Nationals. In 2009, Paris Kim & Michael Dobbelsteyn won medals at a Canadian Selection Circuit and at the Eastern Canadian Championships.
